Today I began my 4th Annual Fly Fishing Road Trip. My first stop tonight is Elko, Nevada.

Today was a long boring drive from Danville through the Nevada desert. The 300 miles from Reno to Elko Nevada are pretty long and hard. I am spending the night in Elko, Nevada tonight.

I left Elko, Nevada and drove straight through to Layton, Utah, just north of Salt Lake City. The border of Nevada and Utah is nothing but salt flats and is even more boring than Nevada.

As I entered Utah and drove along the salt flats I stopped at a rest stop. As I walked closer I saw this sign. Looks like Utah isn't a very friendly place.

I left Utah this morning and drove through Idaho, which is so much prettier.

I continued on through Idaho, into West Yellowstone, Montana and arrived in Bozeman, Montana, which is one of my favorite places.

Today was a rest day. It's been 3 long days of driving. I just wandered around Bozeman, bought a fishing license and prepared my gear to go fishing tomorrow.

Today I fished the Boulder River in Southern Montana with Dennis Alverson. Dennis and I have fished together for 5 years now. This was an absolutely perfect day on the river. Everything went just right. Great weather, no wind, beautiful scenery, amazing fishing and a great lunch catered by Dennis. This was one of the best days I've ever had.

Today was a rest day just hanging around Bozeman getting ready to fish with Dennis again on Friday and Saturday.

Fished the same river again today with Dennis. The weather was a little less cooperative today and we got rained on pretty hard for a little while. The fishing however, was almost as good as yesterday.
